Dr. Md. Rahanul Islam graduated from Rajshahi Medical College on 2004 and joined health cadre of Bangladesh civil service on 2006. His journey with Psychiatry begins on 2009 as Clinical Assistant at the Pabna Mental Hospital, Pabna. Then he got his MD in Psychiatry on January 2016 from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. In addition he completed training on Mindfulness for stress reduction, Dialectical Behavioural skill training, 101 for transactional analysis, Colombo plan Asian centre for certification and education of addiction professionals training series curriculum 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, ICAP I, United Nations Office for Drugs and Crime Training Package on Family Therapy (UNFT), Colombo Sri Lanka and Male, Maldives. Incorporating different school of thought he re structured family psycho education training for family members of patient with substance use disorder and started the first fortnightly relapse prevention programme. He also formulated a 12 month relapse prevention protocol which is on piloting phase. Along with clinical work his points of interest are psychiatric services, designing and conducting workshop and training program, research and different forms of psychotherapy specially CBT, computerized CBT, DBT, creative therapy and mindfulness-based psychological interventions. At present he is working as Resident Psychiatrist in Central Drug Addiction Centre, Tejgaon, Dhaka and involved with different ongoing research projects.
