Tahmina Akter is a passionate Occupational Therapist and public health professional, committed to enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities through rehabilitation, early intervention, and inclusive support strategies. She holds a B.Sc. in Occupational Therapy from Bangladesh Health Professions Institute (BHPI), University of Dhaka, and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Public Health at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. With experience across a wide range of clinical and educational settings, Tahmina has worked at organizations such as Kiddie Rocks, Protyasha Neurogy and Autism Centre, and the Bangladesh Therapy & Rehabilitation Foundation (BTRF), where she served as Early Intervention Program Coordinator. Her hands-on expertise includes working in spinal cord injury units, adult neurology units, and autism-based special schools. She has also gained international exposure through advanced placements in Yakkum Rehabilitation Center, Indonesia. Tahmina has actively contributed to implementation research, including studies on HIV counseling fidelity and disability-inclusive development. She has presented at global conferences such as the Asia Pacific Conference on Public Health and the Indonesia Tuberculosis Research Meeting. Her training portfolio includes workshops on sensory integration, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and inclusive education. A registered professional with the Bangladesh Occupational Therapy Association (BOTA), she is fluent in Bangla and English and has a working knowledge of Hindi and Urdu. With strong initiative, adaptability, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills, Tahmina Akter remains deeply committed to disability advocacy, public health research, and inclusive rehabilitation practices in Bangladesh and beyond.
