Dr. Sifat E Syed is a dedicated specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychiatry, Bangladesh Medical University (BMU). With over a decade of clinical experience in child psychiatry, she has been actively involved in teaching, curriculum development, and managing the specialized outpatient mental health clinic for children and adolescents. She has played a vital role in the MD Child and Adolescent Psychiatry program at BMU as a faculty member and Phase A Manager, contributing significantly to academic coordination and examination processes. Dr. Sifat is also deeply engaged in mental health awareness and advocacy, conducting sessions in educational institutions and working as a master trainer for the WHO mhGAP program and as a regular resource person for UNICEF on adolescent mental health. Internationally, she represents Bangladesh as the national correspondent for IACAPAP and serves as an advisor for CAMSAN. Her academic accomplishments include an FCPS in Psychiatry, ongoing specialization in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and prestigious recognitions such as the Donald J. Cohen Fellowship (Canada, 2016), the JSPN Fellowship (Japan, 2015), and the Prof. Hidayetul Islam Gold Medal (2019). As a researcher, Dr. Sifat has authored and co-authored numerous publications in both national and international journals, focusing on behavioral disorders, parental mental health, and adolescent well-being. She has also held key organizational roles, including Treasurer and Academic Secretary of the Bangladesh Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (BACAMH), and Scientific Affairs Secretary of the Bangladesh Association of Psychiatrists (BAP).
