Overview

The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering therapeutic interventions to support clients in achieving independence in their daily lives. Core responsibilities include collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, addressing rehabilitation needs, tailoring therapy plans for individual clients, and working closely with children, adolescents, and adults with cognitive, physical, or developmental challenges. Additionally, the Occupational Therapist will maintain clear and professional client communication and document progress effectively.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive assessments covering sensory, motor, functional abilities, and Activities of Daily Living (ADL), including evaluation of school readiness and adaptive behavior. Identify challenges in fine motor skills, gross motor skills, sensory processing, handwriting, coordination, and overall functional independence. Develop and implement individualized Occupational Therapy (OT) treatment plans based on assessment findings and child-specific needs. Deliver therapeutic interventions such as sensory integration, motor planning, handwriting support, self-care training, and play-based therapy. Address specialized areas including feeding difficulties, postural control, reflex integration, and executive functioning skills. Promote independence in daily living activities including dressing, feeding, grooming, and toileting. Support classroom participation through interventions focused on attention, sitting tolerance, and sensory regulation. Maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions, track progress, and update intervention plans based on outcomes and caregiver feedback. Provide guidance and training to parents/caregivers on home-based strategies, sensory diets, and recommend adaptive equipment or environmental modifications. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage in continuous professional development to ensure high-quality, holistic child care.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution. - Minimum 2 years of practical experience working with children or adults in rehabilitation, special needs, or clinical settings. - Experience in functional assessment, sensory-motor evaluation, and therapy planning is highly desirable. - Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage with patients and their families. - Commitment to continual learning and professional development in therapy practices. - Certifications or licensure in occupational therapy practice in accordance with regulations. - Prior experience in a mental health or rehabilitation setting is a plus.
